Like many folks in the south most of july was more suited to beach combing than fly fishing, with temperatures soaring to a dizzy 27 degrees centegrade on one memorable day.

Fishermen who had left trusting wives at home to fish in the north west of Scotland went home with mediteranean tans and no doubt some explaining to do to a doubting wife.

Fishing, whilst difficult at times, rewarded the dilligent and Brown Trout numbers were good with 1200 trout in the book for the month, including the following fish worthy of note;

10th..2lb 8oz brown trout to Richard Franklin 18th..2lb brown trout to Morgan/Jones party 21st..2lb 11oz brown trout to Colin Munro Best bag..52 brown trout in one day to the Evans/Jones party

84 Seatrout/Finnock were caught and released during the month the best 3lb 8oz to Derek Rippengal and 2lb 8oz to Michael Wycherley.

Stack produced 7 Salmon for the month as follows; 4th..17.7lb and 6lb to Jeff East 7th..7.5lb and 6.5lb to Mac Stevensons boat 8th..11.5lb and 11lb to Mac Stevensons boat 24th..4.5lb to Michael Wycherley All the above fish were subject to the estate conservation rules.

As I write this (july 31st) it is raining and the forcast is for more to come. I think we all look forward to seeing the rivers and burns full again.

Tight lines
