Stuart Barr With His Magnificent 6lb Fish From The Crocach Beat
|
Greetings from Scourie Hotel again. Not all the figures are in for
June yet as guests staying for a week or fortnight have not yet returned their permits
with catch records. However the returns so far are as follows 475 Brown Trout caught, the most notable being as follows: 3lb 15 1/2oz Brown Trout to Rhys Williams, aged 13 caught on Mid Chain beat 6th June on a dry fly - well done! Also from the same beat on the same day a fish of 2lb 14oz to Ron Hepwaite. On Loch Stack two beauties were caught, one of 3lb 2oz on 8th to Peter Williams (father of Rhys) and another of 5lb to Mr. Stuart on the 9th June. Also on the 9th June Stuart Barr took a monster of 6lb from Crocach Beat and not to be out done Chris Hansen caught an absolute whopper of 7lb 2oz from Strathain (this is the current holder of the Ian Hay Trophy for 2001 so far!) On the 22nd June Brian Taylor caught a superb Brown Trout of 4lb 4oz from Dour Beat (on this occasion not so Dour as he lost one in the weeds reckoned to be over 3lb.) So far this month the fishing had been reasonably good with more to come when Stack and the rivers come into their own for Salmon and Sea Trout in July. Here's hoping for some rain. Tight lines, Patrick
