Stuart Barr With A Magnificent 6lb Fish From The Crocach Beat

June turned out to be an excellent month for brown trout, although weather conditions and water levels were not good. Many days were lost through high winds and fishing was difficult during a period of hot sunny weather.

Total recorded brown trout for the month were 1253 with the following large fish worthy of mention.

Robin Williams took fish of 3lb 12oz (6/6) Nan Uidh, 3lb 4oz (3/6) Mid Chain, 2lb 0oz (4/6), Hush 2 & 1lb 14oz (13/6) Hush 2. Good fishing even by his standards.

Nigel Jones 3lb 15oz Mnatha (3/6), Stuart Barr 1lb 12oz Mnatha (4/6), 2lb 0oz Mid Chain (7/6), N. West 2lb 1oz Mhuirt (6/6),  J. Thomas 2lb 8oz Nan Uidh (14/6),  D. Brand 2lb 9oz & 2lb 5oz Domhain (9/6), Robert Ferguson 3lb 8oz Crocach (20/6), 3lb 5oz Duchess (19/6), Brian Taylor 3lb 2oz Sedgwicks (12/6),  Luke Williams 2lb 12oz Blarloch Mor (4/6),  Philip Leith had bags of 70 and 60 trout on the 23rd and 26th June from Stalkers. Jeff East 4lb brown trout from Loch Stack (18/6 ).

Best sea trout 2lb 5 oz off Loch Stack 18/6 - Mac Stevensons boat

A total of 25 sea trout were caught and returned - best 2lb 5oz.

Strangely a 2lb grilse/salmon? Was caught on a hill loch on the White Rock beat by Jim Montgomery. Scales were sent to Shona Marshall the fishery biologist to find out more.
