Dear
All, Sadly the season has now come to an end, the boats are now all off the lochs and lashed down for the winter, except for the ones to be re-furbished and repaired. I have now had the time to collate all the catch records for the season and thought that it might be of interest to print them on the web site. The winner of the "Ian Hay Trophy" for the largest brown trout caught on Hotel Waters during the season was Paul Twambley with a fish of 4lb 5oz, well done Paul, a great fish. The winner of the "Ghillies Trophy" for the largest salmon caught on Stack to a Hotel Guest was Alan Maden, with a grand fish of 14lb. Alan had fish on the Monday and Tuesday and was on a hat-trick for the Wednesday, unfortunately the fish did not oblige, however a great effort. A bottle of malt has been sent to both with my compliments. Finally the total figures for the season. Brown Trout2446 were recorded best being 4lb 5oz., 3lb 10oz., 2 @ 3 lb 8oz. and 25 between 2lb and 3lb. Approximately 60% of these fish were returned. Sea Trout246 caught and returned under 1 kilo, 33 caught and returned over 1 kilo, best 4lb 8oz. Salmon30 caught over 7lb, best 20lb. 48 caught under 7lb. Char 6 were recorded, although like brown trout I believe more were caught but not recorded. The season despite the dry conditions was quite reasonable. As I write this it is raining and the burns and rivers are full, the spawning should be good, especially seatrout and salmon which augers well for the future. Chris Cobb and I would like to keep this site updated with views and fishing stories during the winter, so if anyone has any interesting yarns please let us know and we will print them on the site. Tight lines, Patrick
